Some of the activities that you would be involved in are:&lt;/p&gt;&#10;&#10;&#9;&lt;ul&gt;&#10;&#9;&#9;&lt;li&gt;Contacting Human Resources Professionals to explain our services and build working relationships.&lt;/li&gt;&#10;&#9;&#9;&lt;li&gt;Contacting &lt;span class=&quot;caps&quot;&gt;TLBG&lt;/span&gt; Community Centers to explain our services and build working relationships.&lt;/li&gt;&#10;&#9;&#9;&lt;li&gt;Attend Workplace Conferences and Conventions to explain our services and build working relationships.&lt;/li&gt;&#10;&#9;&#9;&lt;li&gt;Contacting and working with local advocacy groups to affect positive change in transgender discrimination laws.&lt;/li&gt;&#10;&#9;&#9;&lt;li&gt;Contacting and working with trans-youth organizations to assist in trans-youth related workplace issues.&lt;/li&gt;&#10;&#9;&#9;&lt;li&gt;Working to affect the direction of workplace policy in the US and the World as it relates to transgender workplace issues.&lt;/li&gt;&#10;&#9;&#9;&lt;li&gt;Assisting in the expansion of TJobBank to a Worldwide Employment Resource.&lt;/li&gt;&#10;&#9;&#9;&lt;li&gt;Working to affect the policies and health insurance directives of corporations and health insurance companies.&lt;/li&gt;&#10;&#9;&#9;&lt;li&gt;Working with the US Govt. on transgender workplace issues as related to Universal Healthcare initiatives.&lt;/li&gt;&#10;&#9;&#9;&lt;li&gt;Working with corporations to obtain and implement sponsorship.&lt;/li&gt;&#10;&#9;&lt;/ul&gt;&#10;&#9;&lt;ul&gt;&#10;&#9;&#9;&lt;li&gt;Assistance in policy making and every other aspect of TJobBank.&lt;/li&gt;&#10;&#9;&lt;/ul&gt;&#10;&#10;&#9;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Requirements:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&#10;We are looking for a well-spoken person with strong leadership abilities.  A self-starter who is willing to take the initiative and assist in policy making at the highest level.  Previous human resources or hiring experience is preferred, but not required.  Experience with non-profit organizations is preferred but not required.  We&amp;#8217;re looking for someone who is passionate about trans-workplace issues and has the time to devote to the organization. This position is non-paid, at this time however there is a high probability of becoming a paid position in the future.  Obviously, this position will require a high level of public exposure. The individual oversees the implementation of such strategies by spearheading public and media relations, corporate communications, web content, marketing, and creative services. The candidate serves as the expert counsel on protecting and enhancing the reputation of the brand, and for developing messages and imagery that encourages individuals, companies, and foundations to support the organization.&lt;/p&gt;&#10;&#10;&#9;&lt;p&gt;Under general direction from the deputy director,  the Communications Director is responsible for the overall planning, organization and direction of Out &amp; Equal&amp;#8217;s communications strategies and public information activities. &lt;/p&gt;&#10;&#10;&#9;&lt;p&gt;The Communications Director is also responsible for fostering and maintaining relationships with news media editors, reporters, other governmental elected officials and their staff, other communications directors,  community leaders, donors and sponsors, and partner organizations involved with the organization.&lt;/p&gt;&#10;&#10;&#9;&lt;p&gt;Duties include but are not limited to:&lt;/p&gt;&#10;&#10;&#9;&lt;p&gt;-&#9;Planning, organizing, and directing overall communications strategies and public information activities for the organization; &amp;#8211; Participating in executive strategic planning with the executive management team and Board of Directors; &amp;#8211; Analyzing, developing, and articulating media policies; &amp;#8211; Keeping management and staff apprised of relevant current events on a daily basis; &amp;#8211; Coordinating, overseeing and attending press events; &amp;#8211; Overseeing internal and external communications and presentations through visual displays, production of newsletters and web sites, and occasional public events; Equal program; &amp;#8211; Managing, planning, directing, controlling and implementing an aggressive communications program in the media markets, with an emphasis on Out &amp; Equal programs, media advocacy and public relations support for fundraising events; &amp;#8211; Provide consultation and training for board and staff to ensure effective implementation of communications initiatives.&lt;/p&gt;&#10;&#10;&#9;&lt;p&gt;Requirements &amp;#8211; Bachelor&amp;#8217;s degree (Masters preferred), in public relations, journalism, communications or a related field, and a minimum of seven years experience with at least two years in a nonprofit organization, as well as a portfolio of journalism, public  &amp;#8211; Experience managing a team, excellent communication skills, ability to handle multiple projects under deadline pressure, be detail and results-oriented, and have strong knowledge of budget processes; &amp;#8211; Comprehensive knowledge of media operations and expertise in the field of public relations and release of information for publication; &amp;#8211; Proven ability to develop communication strategies related to organizational policies in collaboration with a diverse team; &amp;#8211; Extensive knowledge and experience in the application of theories, principles and practices of journalism and mass communications as they relate to public information services; &amp;#8211; Experience working with elected officials and CEO-level leadership, an ability to work comfortably and efficiently under tight timelines, and strong, effective written and verbal communication skills;
