University Health Services (UHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced primary care physician interested in a full-time career position in college health. Under the supervision of the Associate Medical Director, this position staffs the UHS Primary Care and Urgent Care clinics, providing primary care to a diverse student population, with an emphasis on general medical care, young adult health issues, women’s health, musculoskeletal injuries, infectious disease, dermatology, as well as psychosocial and mental health issues in an integrative health model. The physician works as a key member of a team with other clinical staff, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, and additional clinical support staff, and also provides consultation to members of the clinical team. The normal hours of operation are 8am to 7pm Monday-Friday, and 9am-5pm Saturday. There may be limited staffing of on-call services for Health Net Program for UCB faculty and staff. This is a 40-hour workweek, exempt career position.
This position develops and maintains clinical concentration on issues pertinent to specific subpopulations within LGBT communities, including mental health, sexual health, primary care protocols for transgender patient care, risk for health disparities, acute and chronic infection disease and campus/community resources.
Physician 4 requirements:
• Advanced clinical skills in broad range of conditions commonly seen in college health primary and/or urgent care areas and effective diagnostic and decision making skills in more difficult cases.
• Knowledge of LGBT health research and best practices for screening, prevention, treatment and referral. Practical and contemporary experience in managing medical and mental health issues seen in patients from LGBT communities. Knowledge and abilities necessary to provide accessible, welcoming and personalized care to patients within varied subpopulations of the LGBT community.
• Ability to practice at or above community standard in patient management, physician consultation, coordination of care, and professionalism.
• Advanced communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with patients, other clinicians, allied healthcare professionals, clinical support staff and administration to achieve high levels of patient satisfaction, and to meet organizational goals and practice performance standards.
• Ability to work effectively with patients and staff from diverse ethnic/racial, educational levels, sexual orientations and identities.
• Computer proficiency and first-hand experience in using electronic health records systems to document all patient interactions and to manage all medical information associated with providing care.
• Board Certification in a primary care specialty and possession of all legal requirements for the practice of medicine in the state of California as determined by the California Medical Board.
• Maintenance of CA medical license, federal DEA prescribing number, Basic Life • Support certification.
This position has a hiring salary range of $114,600 to $160,500 annualized. Actual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
