Youth Services Program Coordinator: Support Services
at NYC Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York-New York City
Seeking an experienced youth worker to have primary responsibility for the coordination, oversight and delivery of supportive social work services, including intake and assessment services, maintenance of a safe and welcoming physical environment, as well as the spectrum of Youth Enrichment Services (YES) creative arts, recreation, and physical activity programming. A particular focus is maintained on using the arts and experiential activities to build resilience in LGBT youth as part of a positive youth development model. Also includes working with the Director of Youth Services and other Program Coordinators to develop and implement overall program plans for LGBT youth, as well as direct service to clients. This includes administration, contract management, capacity-building, operations and staff, intern and volunteer supervision and collaboration with community partners.
Qualified applicants will possess a Master's degree including LMSW with Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) certification to supervise students a plus; a minimum of 1-3 years experience in the provision of group-level social services and working with behavior-change curricula; a minimum 1-year supervisory experience; demonstrated programmatic experience regarding LGBT populations, including knowledge of the spectrum of youth gender identity and transgender issues; knowledge of youth HIV, alcohol and drug and mental health resources in the greater New York City area; strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills (bilingual a plus) and ability to interact with a wide range of personalities; position will require evening and Saturday shifts on an ongoing basis.
