Grantmakers for Education (GFE) is a professional membership association for organizations who seek to improve the effectiveness of their education grantmaking. Our mission is to develop the knowledge and networks of education philanthropy, which we do by providing seminars, research and networking opportunities to our members. Nearly 250 grantmaking organizations of different sizes and interests from around the country are GFE members, and they make grants across the education continuum to improve outcome and opportunities for students (from early education programs to K-12 schools to nonprofits to higher education institutions). Position Description:
As a small non-profit with a dedicated staff of six, GFE?s success depends on the contributions of each team member. This position will provide critical data management and customer service enabling the organization to maintain high-quality, accurate member records and to manage registration, billing and participation for GFE?s approximately 12 place-based and web-based programs annually. The successful candidate will poses a deep commitment to GFE?s mission, have experience with databases, spreadsheets and other computer applications, pay fastidious attention to detail and thrive in a small, high functioning non-profit organization.

The Database Coordinator position is an exempt, half-time position (20 hrs per week, 8:30-12:30 daily). The Database Coordinator works closely with GFE?s implementation team, which includes our Project Associate, Member Services Manager and Office Manager. The Database Coordinator reports to GFE?s Project Associate.

Responsibilities Include:
-Managing the registration databases and all related processes of program registrations for GFE?s annual programs (including registration data tracking and reporting, eligibility verification, record-keeping, and customer service).
-Verifying registration data and cross-checking with GFE?s member/prospect database.
-Maintaining and updating member /prospect databases, updating contact information, payment history and event participation records.
-Communicating with members by phone and email.
-Organizing and managing member files.
-Generating electronic and print mailing lists for a variety of purposes.
-Updating GFE?s funder network lists.
-All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be:
-Detail-oriented and accurate. Applicant will demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and ability to enter data with accuracy. The applicant should also be organized and able to ensure multiple assignments are completed and not lost or forgotten in a busy work environment. The applicant needs to be able to juggle multiple tasks at once.
-Outstanding in customer service. Applicant will have strong, diplomatic interpersonal skills and the ability to form positive working relationships with a diverse constituency, primarily through phone and email. The applicant will maintain a ?can-do? attitude in resolving problems and concerns quickly and correctly.
-A self-starter. Applicant should function successfully in a small office environment, where individual initiative and self-management are required. He/she should be able to take initiative in identifying potential data errors and resolving them without being asked.
-Adept at oral and written communication. Applicant will be an effective communicator who speaks and writes clearly.
-Computer savvy. Applicant should be proficient with technology, including Microsoft Word, Access and Excel. The applicant should be experienced with conducting mail merges.
-Experienced with database tasks and projects. Applicant has experience maintaining database records that require a high degree of accuracy and has demonstrated a high level of attention to detail and strong initiative in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of information.
-Someone with previous customer service experience. Applicant will have experience interacting with customers in a variety of situations and has demonstrated his/her ability to provide friendly, prompt and correct replies to members or public seeking information or help.
Compensation
The salary range of this position is $12-13/hour, depending on experience. The position includes vacation accrual.

Screening Process
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. If selected for an interview, applicants will be asked to complete a short computer skills test.
