Full-time Behavioral Research Associate

Job Description
General Summary of Position Responsibility:

The behavioral research associate assists the Research Coordinator, Co-Investigators, and Principal Investigators with the day-to-day activities of HIV intervention study focusing on young transgender women.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

-Participates in IRB human subjects training and maintains appropriate professional competencies.
-Attends training on the protection of human subjects during the first 6 months of employment and as required thereafter.
-Actively recruits the target population into the study per the study protocol(s).
-Coordinates and schedule meetings with community partners, as needed, to facilitate community-based recruitment and collaboration.
-Maintain databases and other records of all recruitment activities.
-Screens interested participants for study eligibility and schedules participants for enrollment and follow-up visits.
-Retains enrolled research participants through reminder calls, letters, email contact and other activities per study protocol and procedures.
-Administers participants study visits, including consent/assent, HIV testing and counseling, STI specimen collection, interview data collection and other activities per the study protocol and procedures.
-Facilitates group-based HIV prevention intervention sessions with the target population according to the intervention manual and protocol, under the supervision of the Research Coordinator and study Investigators.
-Assists in the development and modification of study protocols and procedures, as needed.
-Gathers patient-related medical information from Electronic Medical Records and outside physicians/institutions as necessary. Adheres to guidelines regarding honest reporting of sensitive and confidential clinical and administrative information.
-Provides back-up and support for all project areas.
-Adhere to highest level of participant and patient confidentiality.
-Complete other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-Bachelor's degree in a social science or related field or two years experience in health promotion, disease prevention or social service required.
-Knowledge and skill with word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, and database software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint)
-Skill and ability to communicate verbally and in writing with a variety of audiences
-Skill and ability to prioritize, organize, and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
-Ability to exercise independent judgment in making decisions and solving problems
-Experience working effectively and competently with sexual and gender minority individuals required.

Preferred: Prior research experience.
