Position Summary:

The Software Architect (SA) designs and develops major systems for Broadridge’s Enterprise Data Management product suite under the direction of the VP Product Development and the CTO. The SA will be responsible for architecting, designing, scoping and delivering critical new EDM systems/applications and modules, integrating with corporate systems, troubleshooting and maintaining existing infrastructure/applications, and selecting and integrating new tools into the existing development infrastructure.

The SA must consider all aspects of the system including: performance, scalability, environment, security, ease of implementation and extensibility. The SA must be skillful in the art of object-oriented programming, with deep experience in back-end system development, database applications, system integration, and ETL. Experience in architecting, building, maintaining, and performance tuning mission critical production systems is required. Experience in handling documents highly desirable.

General Responsibilities:

 Responsible for architecting systems designed for: high-availability, extensibility, ease of implementation, performance, scalability, and performance according to SLAs.
 Leads design and code reviews
 Codes appropriate modules of the system
 Assists the QA team in assessing testability of the system
 Provides diagnosis and troubleshooting of system issues
 Responsible for researching new tools and technologies as well as their integration into the development environment, and maintaining domain expertise in selected areas.
 Responsible for critiquing designs of other systems in the company and contributing to technical policy decision-making.
 Interface with India team where appropriate

Day-to-day Activities:

 Works with VP Product Development in scheduling tasks
 Architects, designs, and implements systems according to the standards of the CTO

Qualifications Required :

Type of experience:

 15+ years in software development with the last 5 in designing systems. Current hands-on coding skills.
 8+ years in data-intensive back end systems development
 8+ years database applications development
 5+ years scripting, preferably in Perl
 5+ years XML/XSL experience required
 6+ years Oracle experience required, with 2 years in Oracle 10g/11g
 Experience in financial systems desirable and/or experience in document-handling systems desirable
 2+ years ETL – is a plus, not required

Minimum skills and competencies:

 Skillful in object-oriented programming.
 Knowledgeable in the software field’s concepts, practices, and procedures
 Good working knowledge of current software development technology trends
 Experience in Team Foundation Server and Sharepoint a plus
 Supportive of other technical and non-technical team members
 Easy to understand when explaining a problem/idea in person; easy to follow when explaining a problem/idea via email
 Creative problem-solving skills
• Relentless follow-through skills

BA degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. Masters preferred.
